Let’s go for a drive

Enjoy the tune! It’s a bit too early for me to be up on a Sunday morning, my preference would be to take three hours to get ready in the morning everyday versus the typical daily morning rush. The house is very quiet, except for the Savannah temporary warning! A woman was jogging around the pond in the back so Savannah felt it necessary to alert the world!

I haven’t done anything yet this morning except throw on my favorite yoga pants and a sweatshirt and put the tea kettle on. I awoke a bit earlier than normal this morning and started to outline my day. The birds were chirping and the ceiling fan was circling slowly, throwing off just the perfect amount of a cool air in the otherwise still room! I was enjoying laying there not thinking about too much…but all it takes is my slight movement for our little girl to walk over to my side of the bed and softly whine for me to let her out. Sometimes I try to fake it, and keep my eyes closed tight…she’s too polite to continue to whine if she thinks I’m still sleeping! But ordinarily, I don’t have the heart to do that to her!

Enjoy the tune! So, the big guy is sleeping, but I went downstairs and brought Savannah outside. It’s a lovely day so far. The morning is still and crisp. The soft blue sky has some white clouds smeared here and there, enough so the white clouds are more bluish streaks than puffs of white fluffiness! The sun’s rays are pouring thru where they can, I think the sun too wants to wake up slowly this morning. The pond is relatively still. There is an occasional ripple here and there from the ever so slight current in the air, and then a teeny air bubble surfaces followed by the continuous forming circles that softly follow, it’s quite beautiful the morning stillness. However, this morning is a bit unusual in the sense that there is not much activity in the pond, no geese or herons are anywhere to be found. It’s a bit early yet to hear the plopping of the frogs quickly jumping in the pond as you pass by! And the birds are really enjoying the morning so far, I think they are happy that we are getting a break from the rain!

I’m sitting in my fancy room! I’ve always referenced my living room as this since my children were little. It didn’t matter which house it was we lived in, I’ve always had a fancy room! It’s the room where I choose to sip on a morning coffee or an afternoon tea! There’s no TV, or toys, or mess or horseplay allowed! My fancy room always has nice light, pretty sofas, fluffy fancy pillows, an end table with cute little poetic books I’ve collected, little fragile collectables, an area where soft burning scented candles glow and beautiful green plants. In this house, I’m blessed with lovely morning light pouring in on my plants. The plants are prolific growers in this gracious light, so every window has a cute table, plant stand or pot tucked close to it filled with luscious greenery! Some plants are even in bloom right now. A hibiscus bloom is beginning to greet the morning in one window, while the white Hawaiian Hoya plant has already been sharing her little waxy white star flowers for the last couple of days. And, if it were a bit cooler, I’d be inclined to have a soft golden glowing fire going. So I sit here, flowered coffee mug in hand and sip on warm smoky coffee and enjoy my plants, flowers, and prettiness in my fancy little room!

Yesterday, I felt a bit frazzled! I had so much to do! Laundry is calling, I have spring cleaning still not tackled, my coffee pot is broken, my floors need mopping, my mail is piled, I’m tired and I didn’t sleep well! I just put a skinny bagel in the toaster for Jaden, that’s all the bread I ever have in my house since we don’t eat bread anymore! I don’t think that’s what Jaden had in mind to eat, (he actually text his mom, I think he actually ratted on Gramma!) so I was just thinking, maybe I need to run to the market. Well all of a sudden my thoughts were halted! Mike just walked in, home from work early this morning! Then minutes later in a flurry my Missy came swinging through! My oh my that girl can use some meditation! We happily listened to news about her fun remodeling projects, and furniture choices and basic new home buyer excitement. And as fast as she entered, her and Jaden were off and on their way! Mike and I looked at each other and smiled and the house was once again quiet! So the big guy said, “What do you want to do?” So without hesitation, my worries and have-tos were out the window and I said “Let’s go for a ride! I wanna tryout my new camera!” So, in typical Mike fashion, he said ok, I’ll be in the car! Oh my, we are so yin and yang! I said in my screechy voice, “Mike I’m not even showered!) (seriously, did he not even notice my bed head hair!)  “Ok, I’ll be waiting outside! So the rush began!)

Oh darn! It’s published, no photos, no music, no final editing! So, stay tuned for more later, I can’t quite figure out draft mode on my iPad yet! It’s breakfast time and once again reality creeps into my fancy room! :o)

So, here’s a few new pics. No awarding winning photos, just a little bit of life in McHenry County on a weekend in April!

I thought this song was totally appropriate for my little post tonight…..

So I just got a note from Georgia, a new customer that visited me on my LindaGeezToo shop! Such a wonderful person! I like it when people send a note to me, a connection to an otherwise wordless digital transaction! Sales are nice, but a sale and a conversation, priceless :o)

I’ve met so many wonderful people on Etsy, and that is so nice! And Georgia is another wonderful person that made my day! I’ve had a lot of wonderful notes and conversations this week from customers. I got to talk to Susan again, Deva , Vicki, Mary and Laura, all just lovely and their souls were uplifting to me! Wonderful feedback also in my shop, that makes me immediately smile, tilt my head and say ahh, how nice! These people restore my faith in mankind! No seriously, it’s such a fast paced world, and when others just take a time out of their busy schedule to just be nice, well that’s a wonderful thing! Thank you girls, it’s what makes all the time I put into my jewelry making SO worth it! My customers rock my world!

So, I thought I would put some flower photos up tonight and take a moment to enjoy their beauty!

Poppies!

More Poppies

More Flower Quince – early May

Delphinium

So, I hope you enjoy my blooms! I can’t wait to get my garden totally planted this spring, I’m a bit late compared to usual…but weather has been quite different this year in Illinois!

So, I thought I’d add another really pretty song to end the post for today. It’s a such a pretty song by Jason Mraz, enjoy!  04 I Won’t Give Up

Well, I won’t take so long to blog next time, there are flowers in my yard to share!

So when you’re not in the garden, and have time to spare, please take a look at my Etsy shop! I have so many new styles! I’ve been getting into copper, besides it’s beauty, it is a healing metal, especially for arthritis and rheumatism. I handmade the medallion in one of my favorite flowers, a lotus flower! You can read all about the meaning of the lotus in my Etsy shop.

the garden sets me free

05 Wildflowers Enjoy the song by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris

Spring is a miraculous time of the year! It is so exciting to be greeted by these beautiful flowering trees when I come home from work! Each day there is a new miracle in bloom! Although my garden is very much smaller than the glorious gardens I have had in previous homes, it doesn’t diminish the joy I experience when I see the beautiful buds bursting open with magnificent vibrant color!

It’s hard to pick a favorite flower, or have a favorite color, or pick a favorite gemstone…there are just too many to enjoy! So, I don’t like to limit myself! I like to enjoy as many of these natural wonders this good earth brings to us!

So, I want to keep this beautiful vision alive and inspire me during the work day until I can once again be in my garden…I always feel peaceful in my garden.

03 Cowboy Take Me Away Enjoy the song

Seeing all these flowers makes me long to pack my camera bag and hop in the car with the big guy for a road trip…and take some time to smell the flowers along the way!

more blooms to follow

Our Little Yard

14 People Got To Be Free Enjoy the Music!

Seriously, who’s idea was it to work five days on, two days off in the busines world? Do you think we could schedule a conference call with that person!

05 Wildflowers Enjoy some nice music!

So, I’m sitting on my porch here, enjoying the day on a work day! Yep, I have a scheduled day off for some necessary appointments. The day is just PERFECT! Me and Savannah decided we would come in the porch since I couldn’t see my computer screen outside in the sun! It is just glorious! The songbirds are singing merrily, there are little ripples in the pond, the trees are swaying just slightly and the wind is filled with summer sounds! I could really get into this!

My NEW Living Easy Rose

So, I have SO much to do! I thought that I would rush home before my afternoon appointment to vacuum and do other chores. Then I thought, oh, I could…(ah oh, Savannah does not like these hawks gliding overhead! My peaceful girl does get worked up every once in awhile!) OK, where was I….I could work on some jewelry….wait till you hear this story! But, it’s springtime, and I’m such a flower girl, so I chose none of the above!

More Music to Enjoy! 03 San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)

My NEW Living Easy Rose

So, I sneaked off to the flower nursery on the way home from my morning appointment. I picked up some of the most beautiful flowers alive! (Well, no that’s not possible, there’s a trunk full waiting for me that I haven’t gotten yet, another day!) Then I had to go to get a shovel, bury the evidence before the big guy gets home! This always happens when I think I’m going to sneak something in, I wind up needing help because it’s too heavy or the ground is too hard! (It’s not as bad as my venture to Pasquesi that one time! It was like…Mike would you help me get something out of the trunk…and PLEASE don’t ask me how much I spent…it was one of those BEAUTIFUL stone upright pots on a pedestal, OMG gorgeous! He looked at it and said, you’re right, I don’t want to know….YES,  he liked it!) Nursery rendevous’ are as dangerous as gemshows, which by the way was last weekend! (Yikes on that one too!) So, I planted the couple of small fowers, but, gulp, I will have to have the big guy help me with the “Living Easy” Rose Bush that I just bought! The color is glorious! And, how could the ground be so hard, we had so much rain….could it be I haven’t been lifting my weights lately! See, that’s another thing I’m not doing right now either!

Begonia

I know that I am in the right business, because I am so driven to things that are beautiful! Right now it’s “Tea Forte” Wild Berry Hibiscus, Organic Tea, (teaforte.com) that I am sipping on in a tall boldly colored stripped mug! The porch has a couple of wicker chairs, lovingly worn, in great need of some new cushions to spruce them up! The wrought iron garden cart has a beautiful pot of big softly shaded apricot, blush pink, and coral orange begonia plant! They have the darkest lushest green waxy leaves and all the flowers are happily bursting open soaking up the sun! Next to them them are Lantana! It’s a beautiful plant with dark green veined leafs with the most perfect group of sun loving little circle clusters of little tiny flowers. These flowers are native to warmer areas of the country, but I buy it every year as an annual. The little flowers are such a delight! I get a color that is a cluster of hot yellows, corals, blazing orange and lastly a warm beautiful red! The cluster colors change daily in these shaded warm colors as the flower cluster matures. If you have never had these in your garden, you should! It’s one of my favorites!

Poppies

I must say, I do believe most of us feel this way! In my free time, it’s filled with Eenie Meenie Mynie Mo, what do I do next! There just is not enough time for everything! If I want to get all my chores done on the weekend, there isn’t any time for fun stuff! Then there is gardening, and jewelry making and cooking, all of which I really enjoy! But then, there are times like these when I can’t help but be in awe of nature! Above all, this is the most natural way one can feel in harmony with the world! Sitting here, enjoying this day filled with the songbirds, the swaying trees, the birds gliding, the hustle and bustle of the little creatures scurrying along the wooden deck planks and the sweet cool wind are the times I really believe….life is good!

So although, I do love making new jewelry styles, if you don’t find anything in my LindaGeez shop that is new, please excuse me, I might be in the garden!

When you are free to browse and enjoy some great jewelry styles….check out my shop in Etsy – LindaGeez and LindaGeeztoo! It’s my favorite pastime to make jewelry….but in the springtime…you may catch me in the garden!

My Girl!

03 My Girl (Stereo) A happy little tune about My Girl!

My Girl, enjoying the porch and the flowers!

It’s a still, bright and warm morning here in Northern Illinois! This time of year things are a bit quiet in the perennial garden as the days have been quite hot! I was awakened by the sounds of the birds this morning! The two syllable voice of the bright red Cardinal is my most favorite eloquent speech from a bird! I must say, I think I am starting to get a little used to this change in my sleeping habits! I’m normally not an early bird, but must say, the mornings are glorious! (I never thought I would say that!)  So, I decided, no better time than now for me and Savannah to wander outside and checkout the morning!

So, as usual, Savannah is perky right away as she hears my footsteps on the floor! There is no coaxing or begging or even morning crankiness from My Girl, what a delight! She is just incredible. So, I thought it would be a nice little blog to share with all of you! When there are times I’m not quite feeling myself, I think that’s a perfect time to learn from my dog! Imagine if all of us lived like our dogs!

Oh how I love this! I can sit here all day long!

For instance, yesterday when I got home from work, I opened the patio door, and of course, there goes My Girl with me out the door….she didn’t even question the blazing heat! Nope, she danced out the door wagging her tail anxious to lay leisurely on the grass and gaze into still glassy pond. It was a perfect time to spruce her hair up a bit as I’m sure it’s pretty warm in that long fur coat that she wears! So, she enjoyed her hair being brushed and in between would get up to hug me as she likes to do! I wish everyone could have a Savannah of their own!

So, I decided, this bright and cheerful morning made me want to dress cool and cheerful for this warm sunny day! So, I grabbed a yellow and green striped top (all pretty sunshiny colors, my favorites), my favorite Peridot and Lemon Quartz earrings, a Peridot bracelet and a Peridot and Green Amethyst ring! My Girl, the sun, my pretty jewelry, I’m already feeling a bit perkier myself!

So, enjoy the happy little song, My Girl (Savannah) enjoying the morning porch and flowers and Today’s Blooms! (click on the photos to see it larger) And, when you need a break from all the warm sun and are taking a computer break, look at my Etsy shop! Inspired by my garden, I have been enjoying making some fine silver pieces! The mix of vintage looking fine silver and the perfect alluring gemstones, make a stunning piece of enduring jewelry! I really love them!

Well, it’s time to get rolling and hit the road soon! Enjoy your day….and take a lesson from My Girl and take time to smell the flowers!

Love and Peace….Linda

Lazy Daze and Flowers!

01 Wildflowers

Clematis, Rose Bush, Daylily, Clover wildflower, Japanese Iris, Snow on the Mountain and Lily

Click on the music to listen or you also can download the music by pressing on the blue link!

I think this song is so perfect being that I have been in a lazy daze for awhile now! Mike and I are off of work! Nothing planned….just enjoying each others company and living life the simple way!

Today we took off for a ride! AND, I didn’t even bring my iPhone! It was liberating! See, I’m old enough to remember what it is like when you want to get lost with someone! Out with the wildflowers feeling free!

It was a glorious day, the temperature my absolute favorite around 70 degrees! We started off getting a coffee and a bit of sweetness to start our day off! Then we took off for Long Grove. Long Grove is a cute little town filled with little boutique shops and art galleries. I’m sad to say so many were closed. But, we enjoyed the mosey walk up and down the brick streets! Saw some great treasures, but the big winner was Savannah…some homemade doggie biscuits…how could I not! She will love them, and she has been a little under the weather, so she more than deserves it!

Just the other day, I said to Mike, oh, it would be so perfect to sit outside somewhere and have lunch, the weather is perfect! Well, he kept that thought in his mind, so when we left we went for a short drive to a little quiet lake called Grass Lake and sat on the patio, and had lunch. Nothing fancy, just a lemonade and a burger. AND, the view, the company and the food made for a perfect leisurely enjoyable luncheon! What a nice day!

The only reason I have turned on the computer, is because I can’t seem to take my daily nap! Mike isn’t having a problem, but perhaps I have caught up with the much needed rest already! So, I thought I would share with you some of my flower blooms that have been blooming this last week or so as I have been on hiatus from any type of schedule!

I’m inspired now to create! A day in nature somehow rejuvenates me, the best inspiration ever…because we belong somewhere we feel free! So,  run away! Enjoy the wildflowers!

So, in your free time, after you have enjoyed the weather and the flowers….visit my Etsy Shop. You will love the natural gemstone jewelry I have created. When I finish the piece, I would like to think it’s no longer just a stone, but a natural fusion between the earth, body and spirit…causing you to feel at peace and one with nature!

Until next time,

Love and Peace…Linda

Colors of Life!

Photos from My Home!

click to listen to the music!

Sometimes it’s so hard to leave the house, when there is so much beauty around! These are photos of blooming plants in my home! Both plants were late blooming this year and I wondered if their blooming days were over! So, I moved the lily in the window it was in last year during it’s blooming season.  And, the orchid, I was just thinking, well I got two good years worth of blooms! AND then, as if they could read my mind, the following week they began budding! (Oh, wait a minute,  let me correct myself! To all you non believers that your plants can’t hear you talk….see, they love it…even plants need love!) These couldn’t be any prettier!

Yesterday, when I came home, this gorgeous Heron was outside my door! As soon as I saw her, I quieted Savannah, coaxed her in the house and ran and got my camera! The Heron’s eye was on me the whole time as he slowly and cautiously walked away! I didn’t have time to grab another camera or lens, I had to take it right then with the camera I leave downstairs to capture beautiful things! Well, despite the fact that it is a small image and she is walking away, isn’t it breaktaking!

Well, I should be making dinner, but, first things first! So, now that I have these gorgeous pictures and all of you too can share, I’ll go make dinner! Wow, I just can’t believe it…these are beautiful, aren’t they? The photos don’t do them justice!

You can see more of my lovely flower photos in my Etsy shop! I love flowers and I wish I could grab my camera and photograph this time of year the whole day long! New life blooms everyday right in front of our eyes! So, take a look at my other photos of my flowers over the years!

Until next time,

Love and Peace

Linda
