Let’s go for a drive

Enjoy the tune! It’s a bit too early for me to be up on a Sunday morning, my preference would be to take three hours to get ready in the morning everyday versus the typical daily morning rush. The house is very quiet, except for the Savannah temporary warning! A woman was jogging around the pond in the back so Savannah felt it necessary to alert the world!

I haven’t done anything yet this morning except throw on my favorite yoga pants and a sweatshirt and put the tea kettle on. I awoke a bit earlier than normal this morning and started to outline my day. The birds were chirping and the ceiling fan was circling slowly, throwing off just the perfect amount of a cool air in the otherwise still room! I was enjoying laying there not thinking about too much…but all it takes is my slight movement for our little girl to walk over to my side of the bed and softly whine for me to let her out. Sometimes I try to fake it, and keep my eyes closed tight…she’s too polite to continue to whine if she thinks I’m still sleeping! But ordinarily, I don’t have the heart to do that to her!

Enjoy the tune! So, the big guy is sleeping, but I went downstairs and brought Savannah outside. It’s a lovely day so far. The morning is still and crisp. The soft blue sky has some white clouds smeared here and there, enough so the white clouds are more bluish streaks than puffs of white fluffiness! The sun’s rays are pouring thru where they can, I think the sun too wants to wake up slowly this morning. The pond is relatively still. There is an occasional ripple here and there from the ever so slight current in the air, and then a teeny air bubble surfaces followed by the continuous forming circles that softly follow, it’s quite beautiful the morning stillness. However, this morning is a bit unusual in the sense that there is not much activity in the pond, no geese or herons are anywhere to be found. It’s a bit early yet to hear the plopping of the frogs quickly jumping in the pond as you pass by! And the birds are really enjoying the morning so far, I think they are happy that we are getting a break from the rain!

I’m sitting in my fancy room! I’ve always referenced my living room as this since my children were little. It didn’t matter which house it was we lived in, I’ve always had a fancy room! It’s the room where I choose to sip on a morning coffee or an afternoon tea! There’s no TV, or toys, or mess or horseplay allowed! My fancy room always has nice light, pretty sofas, fluffy fancy pillows, an end table with cute little poetic books I’ve collected, little fragile collectables, an area where soft burning scented candles glow and beautiful green plants. In this house, I’m blessed with lovely morning light pouring in on my plants. The plants are prolific growers in this gracious light, so every window has a cute table, plant stand or pot tucked close to it filled with luscious greenery! Some plants are even in bloom right now. A hibiscus bloom is beginning to greet the morning in one window, while the white Hawaiian Hoya plant has already been sharing her little waxy white star flowers for the last couple of days. And, if it were a bit cooler, I’d be inclined to have a soft golden glowing fire going. So I sit here, flowered coffee mug in hand and sip on warm smoky coffee and enjoy my plants, flowers, and prettiness in my fancy little room!

Yesterday, I felt a bit frazzled! I had so much to do! Laundry is calling, I have spring cleaning still not tackled, my coffee pot is broken, my floors need mopping, my mail is piled, I’m tired and I didn’t sleep well! I just put a skinny bagel in the toaster for Jaden, that’s all the bread I ever have in my house since we don’t eat bread anymore! I don’t think that’s what Jaden had in mind to eat, (he actually text his mom, I think he actually ratted on Gramma!) so I was just thinking, maybe I need to run to the market. Well all of a sudden my thoughts were halted! Mike just walked in, home from work early this morning! Then minutes later in a flurry my Missy came swinging through! My oh my that girl can use some meditation! We happily listened to news about her fun remodeling projects, and furniture choices and basic new home buyer excitement. And as fast as she entered, her and Jaden were off and on their way! Mike and I looked at each other and smiled and the house was once again quiet! So the big guy said, “What do you want to do?” So without hesitation, my worries and have-tos were out the window and I said “Let’s go for a ride! I wanna tryout my new camera!” So, in typical Mike fashion, he said ok, I’ll be in the car! Oh my, we are so yin and yang! I said in my screechy voice, “Mike I’m not even showered!) (seriously, did he not even notice my bed head hair!)  “Ok, I’ll be waiting outside! So the rush began!)

Oh darn! It’s published, no photos, no music, no final editing! So, stay tuned for more later, I can’t quite figure out draft mode on my iPad yet! It’s breakfast time and once again reality creeps into my fancy room! :o)

So, here’s a few new pics. No awarding winning photos, just a little bit of life in McHenry County on a weekend in April!

LindaGeez Blog – 2012 in review

Here’s an excerpt:

The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,100 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

ta daaaaa!

Enjoy the song!

04 My Boy Lollipop

This sweet song describes our boy Jaden perfectly! He is the sweetest grandson, we couldn’t be more blessed!

So, Jaden is really quite an amazing kid, and I’m not one bit biased! :o) He puts so much thought into the gifts that he is going to give G’ma and Pops. This past Christmas, once again his artistic abilities shined through! And he knows, just what each of us loves! Continue reading

it’s a beautiful morning

01 A Beautiful Morning

So, here it is a Saturday and I’m doing what I love best…let the moment guide me to happiness! Yes, of course I have plans, rather HAD plans for this wonderful day! But, my favorite thing on my day off is a little bit of this, a little bit of that! The day usually doesn’t progress quite like my initial plans as they were forming in my mind as I lay still trying to open my sleepy eyes! Somehow, the garden always deviates me a bit from the master plan (although “the plan” is always open to revision and rewriting!) (Another pretty song to enjoy 12 Good Morning Starshine

So Jaden is here with us for the weekend! This is always a welcome addition to the weekend agenda! The adventures began last night….first Culvers for dinner followed by ice cream! (they have nothing that I would consider anywhere near the caloric intake I would have liked to have for dinner….I’m sure the veggie burger and cheese fries were beyond my daily limit of calories!) But, after all it was fun Friday, right? So somehow, a trip to Crystal Lake for an ink cartridge, somehow resulted in Culvers, ice cream, an iPod cover and a new xBox game….and they didn’t even have the ink cartridge! I guess that’s what happens when your grandson is with you….the evening gets revised and rewritten!  But he is so worth it! :o)

My little buddy keeps checking out the blog, waiting to see what I might put in my blog about him! Gosh, G’Ma can’t get away with anything, however, he’s gone now so I can put in a pic from a bit ago! tee hee hee!

So, the day is a simple one here for all of us!  I started out walking around gazing at the bushes and flowers beginning to pop open in the yard…which is why tomorrow will be a trip to the nursery for some new blooms to purchase! And, all of us here are occupying ourselves in our own bit of happiness. Jaden is playing xBox, Savannah is sleeping, I’m doing a bit of this and that, and PaPa is getting the garage cleaned.

But, I couldn’t let the day pass without sharing a few more magnolia blooms pics! It’s rare here in Illinois when these early blooming trees don’t get ruined from the irregular spring temperatures. Usually as these blooms are forming, we get some sort of cold weather or frost and the petals often get the edges browned or the petals start to fall after just a couple of days! But this year, spring has sprung early and the yard is filled with the beginnings of beautiful spring blooms! I see hostas popping us, Lilac buds forming, my Quince bushes coral buds forming, the Columbine’s beautiful leaves have emerged from the soil, and, well, many more beauties just waiting for a bit more warmth and sunshine!

So, I’ll leave you with a pretty flower and a pretty song and wish for a great weekend! Enjoy the song!

01 Just the Way You Are

Now, onto my jewelry making! :o)

Daydreamer

03 Daydream Believer

The Monkees

What kind of girl would I be if I didn’t honor Davy Jones! A little bit of my yesteryears creeps in my memory. Of course Suze and me loved The Monkees! We sang their songs and decorated our room with their pictures. AND, as any little sister would do (sorry Suze, I always mention that she is older than me), I would love what Suze loved! So, when she said  “Let’s tape Micky Dolenz pic up on our bedroom door”…who was little me to disagree!  Hahaha! Actually, I don’t remember who I thought was “cuter” him or Davy, I just knew I loved all of them too! So, I thought I would share a favorite song of ours that we enjoyed!  And a daydreamer I guess I will always be. Whether it was yesterday, or even today, I still admit, I am a daydreamer!

So, speaking of daydreaming, this blog will be all about things I dream about! I think dreams are healthy. Dreams help us escape from the day to day dreariness that we all must endure! And, although I don’t have enough pages for all the dreams that I have, I will write about one dream that none of us can change in any way!  I dream about TIME! Yes TIME! There is nothing we could do about the time we have….we can’t add more time to our day, add more time to our lives, take any bad times away, or even change the times we have made a mistake or two! No time tunnel here, although that would sure be fun! Enjoy this oldie 2-12 The Time Has Come Today Am I aging myself? Well, it wouldn’t be the first time today I heard that! Does this sound familiar all the “M’s” in the office!

Yellowstone

14 Born To Be Wild And, another thing spring weather tends to do to me, is make me dream of a road trip! The destination is not as important and the ride, the adventure, the escape from reality! It’s hard to pick a favorite vacation, we have had so many lovely ones….but I do have a couple of favorites! I LOVED traveling to Yellowstone National Park! AND, I also loved our first real motorcycle adventure…traveling on Blue Ridge Parkway, through the Great Smoky Mountains. Nothing ever compared to the freedom I felt on that vacation! Sony Discman in pocket (pre iPod days), trailer in the back, holding on to the big guy without a care in the world! Besides the sites and the carefree days we had, it was great because I didn’t have to even look at the map for him….I’m not a map person, in fact I think I hate it! Total freedom! Oh, forgive me, I was just daydreaming for a moment there!

Eenie Meenie Mynie Mo

Our Little Yard

14 People Got To Be Free Enjoy the Music!

Seriously, who’s idea was it to work five days on, two days off in the busines world? Do you think we could schedule a conference call with that person!

05 Wildflowers Enjoy some nice music!

So, I’m sitting on my porch here, enjoying the day on a work day! Yep, I have a scheduled day off for some necessary appointments. The day is just PERFECT! Me and Savannah decided we would come in the porch since I couldn’t see my computer screen outside in the sun! It is just glorious! The songbirds are singing merrily, there are little ripples in the pond, the trees are swaying just slightly and the wind is filled with summer sounds! I could really get into this!

My NEW Living Easy Rose

So, I have SO much to do! I thought that I would rush home before my afternoon appointment to vacuum and do other chores. Then I thought, oh, I could…(ah oh, Savannah does not like these hawks gliding overhead! My peaceful girl does get worked up every once in awhile!) OK, where was I….I could work on some jewelry….wait till you hear this story! But, it’s springtime, and I’m such a flower girl, so I chose none of the above!

More Music to Enjoy! 03 San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)

My NEW Living Easy Rose

So, I sneaked off to the flower nursery on the way home from my morning appointment. I picked up some of the most beautiful flowers alive! (Well, no that’s not possible, there’s a trunk full waiting for me that I haven’t gotten yet, another day!) Then I had to go to get a shovel, bury the evidence before the big guy gets home! This always happens when I think I’m going to sneak something in, I wind up needing help because it’s too heavy or the ground is too hard! (It’s not as bad as my venture to Pasquesi that one time! It was like…Mike would you help me get something out of the trunk…and PLEASE don’t ask me how much I spent…it was one of those BEAUTIFUL stone upright pots on a pedestal, OMG gorgeous! He looked at it and said, you’re right, I don’t want to know….YES,  he liked it!) Nursery rendevous’ are as dangerous as gemshows, which by the way was last weekend! (Yikes on that one too!) So, I planted the couple of small fowers, but, gulp, I will have to have the big guy help me with the “Living Easy” Rose Bush that I just bought! The color is glorious! And, how could the ground be so hard, we had so much rain….could it be I haven’t been lifting my weights lately! See, that’s another thing I’m not doing right now either!

Begonia

I know that I am in the right business, because I am so driven to things that are beautiful! Right now it’s “Tea Forte” Wild Berry Hibiscus, Organic Tea, (teaforte.com) that I am sipping on in a tall boldly colored stripped mug! The porch has a couple of wicker chairs, lovingly worn, in great need of some new cushions to spruce them up! The wrought iron garden cart has a beautiful pot of big softly shaded apricot, blush pink, and coral orange begonia plant! They have the darkest lushest green waxy leaves and all the flowers are happily bursting open soaking up the sun! Next to them them are Lantana! It’s a beautiful plant with dark green veined leafs with the most perfect group of sun loving little circle clusters of little tiny flowers. These flowers are native to warmer areas of the country, but I buy it every year as an annual. The little flowers are such a delight! I get a color that is a cluster of hot yellows, corals, blazing orange and lastly a warm beautiful red! The cluster colors change daily in these shaded warm colors as the flower cluster matures. If you have never had these in your garden, you should! It’s one of my favorites!

Poppies

I must say, I do believe most of us feel this way! In my free time, it’s filled with Eenie Meenie Mynie Mo, what do I do next! There just is not enough time for everything! If I want to get all my chores done on the weekend, there isn’t any time for fun stuff! Then there is gardening, and jewelry making and cooking, all of which I really enjoy! But then, there are times like these when I can’t help but be in awe of nature! Above all, this is the most natural way one can feel in harmony with the world! Sitting here, enjoying this day filled with the songbirds, the swaying trees, the birds gliding, the hustle and bustle of the little creatures scurrying along the wooden deck planks and the sweet cool wind are the times I really believe….life is good!

So although, I do love making new jewelry styles, if you don’t find anything in my LindaGeez shop that is new, please excuse me, I might be in the garden!

When you are free to browse and enjoy some great jewelry styles….check out my shop in Etsy – LindaGeez and LindaGeeztoo! It’s my favorite pastime to make jewelry….but in the springtime…you may catch me in the garden!

Don’t Worry…Be Happy!

01 Don’t Worry, Be Happy Click to listen :o)

It’s been a long time since I have blogged, and actually I have good reasons. Today is different but then again not! What am I talking about! Well, I was once again driven to my keyboard because of bits of emotion. Emotion is such a driving force: it makes song writers write the best songs, artists create the best piece of art, people fall in love and children scream with delight! Sometimes, it’s sadness and that can be overwhelming.

Life is full of LIFE! Meaning, life is bursting with a full spectrum of every imaginable color! Some days are brilliant beautiful colors filled with joy and  enthusiasm – making you more than willing to get up and experience all the beauty the day can bring to you. Sometimes, well not so bright, times a bit gloomy and bringing to you days where the same eagerness, well, it’s just not present.

I’m sure most of us have times such as I am experiencing, so, I’m sure you will appreciate listening to this happy song. Lately, every generation in my family has been faced with health issues to deal with in their lives. From my less than healthy aging parents, to myself, to my children, and sadly even our little grandson Jaden was very ill. This kind of stuff is heart wrenching to deal with. Some days are just plain harder than others to deal with.

14 Just Feel Better Listen to the music

So, today I thought I’m doing a little better….exercise, get some things ready for tomorrow and just relax. The jewelry creations whirling through my head as I was exercising may not come to reality today, so, I should jot down these thoughts because as of lately, I have not been creating much jewelry. See, I have this personal rule, I don’t force myself to create unless my heart is open and I am willingly able to pour that into my creations. See, jewelry making is my hobby, I do it because I just love to. My little shop is for enjoyment for me and others! And, I love Etsy, to me it always was an escape to my own little creative world. I do as I please when I design jewelry. I don’t care about the time it takes, or if it conforms to a “popular” style.  I work on my creations until I love it, if I don’t…well, it stays on my workbench until it eventually flows perfectly! So, yes, there are a few unfinished projects waiting for the perfect finish.

When I started with Etsy, it seemed like a small community of artisans, and it was so exciting to me. Well, Etsy is growing like crazy! And especially in the jewelry category. I don’t want it to get too big and too impersonal, that would be a shame, but perhaps it already is! Things change almost daily on Etsy, and for a moonlighting artisan like me, sometimes its difficult to compete with the full time artist who has access to their customers and listings throughout the day. It certainly would be a dream come true if I could create everyday, but, it is just that, a dream!

So, what brings me to Etsy when I shop? I shop a lot on Etsy too!   To me, it’s finding that little entrepreneur, an artist who dreams up and creates a unique item, that personal connection with the artist, an enjoyable buying experience.  And, I have met some wonderful artists! And, I can’t wait to proudly display them in my home! Well, that’s my thoughts.

So if you are the type of person that loves to shop for that unique item that was handmade by someone in their little workshop, please think of a few things. Most likely that person is like me, making beautiful items to sell, because it’s a hobby and they love to do it!  I spend way more hours on my things than people would believe….why…it’s fun to send bits of me to someone! Something I created on my own, my own style, my own story….with hopes of sending package full of peace, love and smiles!

So tomorrow, I will start off fresh.  I hope to find some solace in the beautiful Botanical Gardens, and be free and enjoy nature!  Yes nature is always healing, isn’t it.

Please visit my little shop and browse around, and know that everything is made by ME with love!

Peace and Love….LindaGeez and LindaGeezToo
