Let’s go for a drive

Enjoy the tune! It’s a bit too early for me to be up on a Sunday morning, my preference would be to take three hours to get ready in the morning everyday versus the typical daily morning rush. The house is very quiet, except for the Savannah temporary warning! A woman was jogging around the pond in the back so Savannah felt it necessary to alert the world!

I haven’t done anything yet this morning except throw on my favorite yoga pants and a sweatshirt and put the tea kettle on. I awoke a bit earlier than normal this morning and started to outline my day. The birds were chirping and the ceiling fan was circling slowly, throwing off just the perfect amount of a cool air in the otherwise still room! I was enjoying laying there not thinking about too much…but all it takes is my slight movement for our little girl to walk over to my side of the bed and softly whine for me to let her out. Sometimes I try to fake it, and keep my eyes closed tight…she’s too polite to continue to whine if she thinks I’m still sleeping! But ordinarily, I don’t have the heart to do that to her!

Enjoy the tune! So, the big guy is sleeping, but I went downstairs and brought Savannah outside. It’s a lovely day so far. The morning is still and crisp. The soft blue sky has some white clouds smeared here and there, enough so the white clouds are more bluish streaks than puffs of white fluffiness! The sun’s rays are pouring thru where they can, I think the sun too wants to wake up slowly this morning. The pond is relatively still. There is an occasional ripple here and there from the ever so slight current in the air, and then a teeny air bubble surfaces followed by the continuous forming circles that softly follow, it’s quite beautiful the morning stillness. However, this morning is a bit unusual in the sense that there is not much activity in the pond, no geese or herons are anywhere to be found. It’s a bit early yet to hear the plopping of the frogs quickly jumping in the pond as you pass by! And the birds are really enjoying the morning so far, I think they are happy that we are getting a break from the rain!

I’m sitting in my fancy room! I’ve always referenced my living room as this since my children were little. It didn’t matter which house it was we lived in, I’ve always had a fancy room! It’s the room where I choose to sip on a morning coffee or an afternoon tea! There’s no TV, or toys, or mess or horseplay allowed! My fancy room always has nice light, pretty sofas, fluffy fancy pillows, an end table with cute little poetic books I’ve collected, little fragile collectables, an area where soft burning scented candles glow and beautiful green plants. In this house, I’m blessed with lovely morning light pouring in on my plants. The plants are prolific growers in this gracious light, so every window has a cute table, plant stand or pot tucked close to it filled with luscious greenery! Some plants are even in bloom right now. A hibiscus bloom is beginning to greet the morning in one window, while the white Hawaiian Hoya plant has already been sharing her little waxy white star flowers for the last couple of days. And, if it were a bit cooler, I’d be inclined to have a soft golden glowing fire going. So I sit here, flowered coffee mug in hand and sip on warm smoky coffee and enjoy my plants, flowers, and prettiness in my fancy little room!

Yesterday, I felt a bit frazzled! I had so much to do! Laundry is calling, I have spring cleaning still not tackled, my coffee pot is broken, my floors need mopping, my mail is piled, I’m tired and I didn’t sleep well! I just put a skinny bagel in the toaster for Jaden, that’s all the bread I ever have in my house since we don’t eat bread anymore! I don’t think that’s what Jaden had in mind to eat, (he actually text his mom, I think he actually ratted on Gramma!) so I was just thinking, maybe I need to run to the market. Well all of a sudden my thoughts were halted! Mike just walked in, home from work early this morning! Then minutes later in a flurry my Missy came swinging through! My oh my that girl can use some meditation! We happily listened to news about her fun remodeling projects, and furniture choices and basic new home buyer excitement. And as fast as she entered, her and Jaden were off and on their way! Mike and I looked at each other and smiled and the house was once again quiet! So the big guy said, “What do you want to do?” So without hesitation, my worries and have-tos were out the window and I said “Let’s go for a ride! I wanna tryout my new camera!” So, in typical Mike fashion, he said ok, I’ll be in the car! Oh my, we are so yin and yang! I said in my screechy voice, “Mike I’m not even showered!) (seriously, did he not even notice my bed head hair!)  “Ok, I’ll be waiting outside! So the rush began!)

Oh darn! It’s published, no photos, no music, no final editing! So, stay tuned for more later, I can’t quite figure out draft mode on my iPad yet! It’s breakfast time and once again reality creeps into my fancy room! :o)

So, here’s a few new pics. No awarding winning photos, just a little bit of life in McHenry County on a weekend in April!

Earth Day Celebration!

Finally it Bloomed!

02 The Rain, the Park and Other Things

Click to download and enjoy the song!

It’s Earth Day, and like a cute little curtsy greeting in this very important Earth Day, I was awakened to pretty little blooms from my Flowering Quince bush! It’s a blushing color, a soft and delicate shade of coral! I just love this little bush! It’s right off my patio, so I can sit next to and enjoy during it’s way too short bloom time! I like to put flowering bushes where I can easily enjoy them!

And while you are enjoying gazing at this beautiful bloom, I hope you take a moment to hear the happy little song that I have included. I do LOVE that song!

Enjoy the rest of this special day and enjoy the wonders that our Earth brings to us each and every day!

As you all know by now, I feel nature is rejuvenating! A walk along the pond or sitting and watching the birds or enjoying all the blooms that spring presents to us….how could anyone feel anything but balanced!

I also enjoy what this good Earth brings to us naturally in the form of rocks and gemstones! I have always loved rocks. I love searching for the prettiest colors, shapes and a stone with a story….one with real natural character! I think I love collecting rocks and gemstones as much as making jewelry with them. Take a look at my little shop to see some of the lovely NATURAL organic jewelry and gifts

I’m Just So Excited!

My New Pendant!

2-03-im-so-excited1Click to download music and enjoy the song while reading my blog today!

So yesterday as I was driving into work, I started planning my day….what I’m doing at work, and how ’bout dinner, and do I really want to exercise tonight, and oh, I really feel like doing my pendant tonight! So, the day progressed and my plan was set! Stop by my new favorite don’t feel like cooking place (Panda Express), right on the way home from work. For fast food, it’s really, good! And, no dishes and no exercise and workshop, here I come!

Mike couldn’t wait to have a workbench downstairs, so he got a beautiful bench! Well, it started out, his workbench was built and soon filled with clock parts and all the things he wants to putter with! Then,  I moved my jewelry bench in there (how fun, we can work on things together).  Mine was a small art table that I used to work on in one of the bedrooms. And I moved my little cabinet  with drawers in there to to brighten up the place, not much for dreary!  My little cabinet has heart boxes, cute little framed quotes (“let all that you do be done in love”, “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Dream, Today is what counts”) and a cute Grinch ornament….to cute to put away,  and E-T nightlight, a teeny little box filled with worry dolls from my daughter, and I’m sure a few more things too! Well, my gemstone collection grew, my interest in my craft expanded, Mike bought me more tools and well I now have 4 workbenches in Mikes workshop! tee hee hee!

So, back to yesterday! Dinner was through,  Mike was sitting in his favorite chair, feet up, browsing on his MacBook and I retreated to the workshop. I got all the necessary tools out, and then the gemstones! That’s when it all happened. I placed the first gemstone in the bezel, ran out to the family room, oh Mike look! I get so excited! I must admit, I can’t stay seated long without expressing myself! But, eventually I finished. I was SO EXCITED! So, first I made a leather necklace, no, didn’t work, I thought for sure it would, but no! Then, the sterling silver snake chain, perfect!

So, I picked a pretty little jewelry case, packed up my pendant and protected it with nice soft cotton pads, and placed it in my workbag. The girls at work, are quite supportive and interested in what I’m doing. So, of course I showed the girls at work today. Then I thought, hmmm, I want to show all of you this. It’s not often I make myself something first, but the first three metalsmithing projects I have done, I have kept myself! I always like to perfect things a little bit before I offer them to others. So, pretty soon, I will be adding pieces that I will post in my Etsy shop!

So, this has been fun making and just a taste of so many things I’m dreaming up in my head that I am SO EXCITED ABOUT!

ABOUT THE PENDANT: The pendant’s gemstones are: the large cabochon is a Ruby Zoisite,  (Ruby Zoisite is said to amplify the entire energy field of the body, which helps us to realize and reach our potential) and the two small cabochons are round Rubies!  I set the gemstones in a high walled bezel in a thick piece of sterling. I soldered the two pieces together with thick sterling bent wire. To add some interest to the bottom gemstone piece, I curled the bottom of the sterling. I love the results. Do you? Let me know your thoughts!

So, visit my Etsy shop and look at some of my other creations.

A Brand New Day!

05-brand-new-day(click to hear the music, it will download and you can enjoy listening to while you read this post!) It’s early in the morning and still very quiet in the house! Not too early as I like to take my days off of work a little slow. Rise Naturally! This morning, I was awakened by the raindrops –  softly tapping on the roof and windows. The light was soft and hazy, peeking thru my bedroom window. And, as usual I lay and think of the things I would like to do today. The thoughts roll over and are revised in my mind. OK, so now I’m up with a cup of coffee and a notebook. I want to enjoy the soft light so, I decided the living room, on my sofa with my favorite pillow is where I shall write this morning!

It’s the day before Easter. Thoughts of years earlier and Easter baskets and colored eggs and blooming flowers….all collage in my mind. In Illinois, one never knows if the flowers will be in attendance for Easter or the snow will still be on the ground. I’m happy to say, the weather was glorious this week, so flowers it is! It felt perfect driving with the windows down, the music on, and the sun shining. Spring has SPRUNG! So along with the beautiful weather comes the rich rewards this good earth brings to us! FLOWERS! Not too many blooming, but enough to instill in me hope for a brighter tomorrow! Spring does that to me. Things always seem more cheerful when the flowers are in bloom. Something new happens miraculously all on it’s own, each and everyday! Perennial flowers, flowering bushes and trees are my favorite. Just when you thought you couldn’t take another moment more of winter, a little tiny bit of color overnight pops up to show the world it’s beauty! The daffodils, how I love them….dressed up like little Easter bonnets. Crocus, purple ones are my favorite and the magnolias-all that blooming commotion is going on right now. My neighbors white star mognolias are the first magnolias that I see blooming so far! My Crabapple trees and Rhododendrums are still a bit sleepy, not yet ready to show their colors. As, I walked around my home yesterday, absorbing and observing-my calculation, a week of warm weather and the blooming will begin! I already see the bleeding hearts up about 4 inches, the poppies have a nice crown of leaves already bursting, and the Clematis is getting anxious too!

Well even with the haze and rain, I hear the birds anxious to begin their day – perhaps I should too! I feel like the days go waayyyy tooo fast! Perhaps age does that to me, or perhaps just wanted to hold onto early spring and it’s magic.

Everyone have a wonderful holiday! Enjoy the early blooms and look forward to more flowers ahead!

Love and Peace,
Linda
